Álvaro Vega Martínez: Step by step

Unit 5 was an interesting theme full of vocabulary about the animalia. I particularly liked the lessons about the text which talked about the nature cheats that the cuckoo finches do to raise their chicks and survive, it is completely mind blowing. Later on, we studied the passive, which is easy for me, and the causative, which in some cases I do not get it right. Also, we analysed the purpose clauses. At first I did not get it, but with some examples I completely understood it. Finally, we trained to do a good biography and we handed in one about whoever we wanted. I decided to explore about Robert Hooke and I found his life incredibly interesting.

 Since the last post we have done a lot of things. We began unit 3 "Out and about" and started focusing on volabulary related with sightseeing. Then, we worked on a text which talks about the life of Saroo, a man who lost his family when he was just a child. That story was heartwarming... At the next lesson, we did some activities about vocabulary of travel arrangements and what verbs we need to use in some cases. Furthermore, we talked about the modal verbs to refresh our memories. Finally, we studied how to do a good narrative. Also, I handed in my story wich was about a trouble that my family and I came across on the past holidays.

 In the first week after christmas holidays I was a little shocked because I didn´t feel ready to start again. That week we finished the second unit working a text related to racism, which talked about Rosa Parks and her life. This week we started the third unit "Out and about" and we did dome exercises of vocabulary. Also, we worked on synonyms and opposites of words that appeared on a text, which talked about Saroo, a kid who lost his family in India. I found it very interesting. Furthermore, we did some reading activities about that same text.

 In the last two previous weeks we have been working on some verbe tenses: present simple, present continuous, past simple, past continuous, present perfect simple, past perfect simple and past perfect continuous. For me, the most difficult one was the past perfect continuous, but currently with the work we did, I understand it. Also, we worked on the interrogative forms. I always miss in some phrases, so I have to focus on them. In the last class we were doing a reading that I finished on time getting a good result, so it isn´t a problem for me. Finally, in that same class we read a for and against writing and the teacher explained some tips like the writing process and a few issues to focus on.

 Since my last blog post we have done a lot of things. To begin with, I worked on my first speaking of the course on a platform called flipgrid, which I didn´t know and I find extremely useful. Also, we have been focusing on some verbe tenses doing some activities. For me it was very helpful because I was a little rusty. Besides, we have worked on the prefixes and suffixes of the adjectives using some methods that we learnt in previous classes such as taking an adjective and writing synonyms and opposites. By the moment, I´m truly enjoying the subject.

 The first week has been crazy. Speaking about english, it has been more relaxed than other subjects because the teacher used it to look at the level of the class.  In the last two lessons we worked on a text about online education, which I found extremely interesting. Particularly, in the last lesson we focused on some useful ways to learn vocabulary. I am going to apply them to help me study. At the moment, I think that I am going to learn a lot of new things in the subject.
